Volunteer Positions
🏊♂️ Racers Swim Team - Volunteer Information 🏆
Volunteering is required per meet, and sign-ups are available within each meet in Swimtopia under the "Team Info / Swim Meets" section. Each family is expected to fill at least three volunteer positions throughout the season.
🔹 Volunteers should arrive NO LATER than 5:30 PM and stay for the full meet, except for Parking Volunteers and Hospitality Food Transportation.
🔹 Experienced families: Please take on key roles and leave Hospitality, Parking, and Water Distribution for new 6U families.
Volunteer Roles & Descriptions
📢 Announcer (Home Meets) – Requires approval from Team Manager. Announces events and directs swimmers to the Clerk of Course.
📋 Clerk of Course & Assistant Clerk (Home & Away Meets) – Organizes swimmers into correct heats and lanes behind the blocks.
🍔 Hospitality Food Transportation (Home Meets) – Picks up food for the snack bar and returns stored items the next day. (New 6U families encouraged to sign up!)
👶 Kid Pusher (Home & Away Meets) – Escorts swimmers by age group to the Clerk of Course, ensuring they’re lined up correctly.
🏅 Order of Finish Judge – Records the finishing order of main event swimmers as a backup in case of timing issues.
💻 Meet Maestro Computer Volunteer (Home & Away Meets) – Runs the timing system and makes last-minute updates to ensure accurate results.
🎖 Good Swim Ribbons (Home Meets) – Distributes participation ribbons to 10U swimmers finishing in places 2-6 in non-main-event heats.
🏆 Heat Winner Ribbons (Home Meets) – Hands out ribbons to winners of non-main-event heats for 10U swimmers.
🏅 Ribbon Writers (Home & Away Meets) – Completes ribbons during the meet and files them accordingly.
📊 DQ Scorer (Home & Away Meets) – Enters DQ slips, verifies scoring accuracy, and assists ribbon writers.
🚦 Starter (Home Meets) – Requires training and approval. Operates the starting system for each heat.
👀 Stroke & Turn Judge (Home & Away Meets) – Requires TSA training. Observes main heats for rule violations and writes DQ slips.
📨 Stroke & Turn Runner (Home & Away Meets) – Transports DQ slips from Stroke & Turn Judges to the scoring table.
⏱ Timer (Home & Away Meets) – Times swimmers in races (15 yards for 6U, 25 yards for 7-10, 50 yards for 11+).
🚗 Parking Volunteer & Hospitality (Home Meets) – Arrives by 3:45 PM to direct parking traffic until meet start at 6 PM. Distributes water to coaches & volunteers. (New 6U families encouraged to sign up!)
- Home Team parks in the field area.
- Visiting Team parks in the paved lot.
🔄 Sub/Relief Timer (Home & Away Meets) – Rotates in for timers as needed for breaks.
⚡ Sub/Floater (Home & Away Meets) – Ready to fill in for any position if needed. DO NOT sign up for this expecting to do nothing.
📦 Ribbon Stickers (Home Meets) – Takes ribbons home after meets, applies stickers, and organizes them by event (requires ~2 hours).
📬 Post-Meet Ribbon Sorter (Home & Away Meets) – Sorts ribbons by family for distribution at the front gate the morning after the meet. Usually handled by student/teen volunteers.
