Racers Swim Team News

    Dear Parents,

    I know it’s early, but we’ve already had our first Racers Committee meeting of the year, and we’ve identified a few very important roles that we need to fill or train for. Plus, you’ll earn your volunteer credits for signing up—win-win!

    Volunteer Opportunities:

    1. Computer Technician for Swim Meets
      We need a tech-savvy member to help with our swim meet operations. In the past, we’ve enlisted a high school student looking for volunteer hours, if you have an older child who’s no longer on the swim team yet still loves being around the pool, this could be a fantastic opportunity for them! We’ll gladly accept an adult volunteer too—but it’s always fun to see the kids when they come back.
    2. Swim Meet Announcer
      This role involves training alongside Quin, our current announcer for the 2025 season, and then taking over next season when Quin’s “baby racer” ages out of the team. If you have a great voice and a sense of humor, this might be the perfect role for you!

    Both positions are open only to swim team parents who have been on the team and plan to stay for a few years.

    Other Exciting Updates:

    • TSA League Meet Schedule:
      We are waiting for confirmation of the TSA league meet schedule, which we expect by February 20. Once received, we’ll update our website with the latest dates, clinics, time trials, and details for our “Meet the Coaches Snow Cone Social.”
    • Registration:
      Registration for the season will open in early April and close in early May.
    • New Little Racers Program:
      We’re adding a Little Racers program geared toward kids aged 3-5 who aren’t quite ready to swim 15 yards unassisted or commit to full swim team competition. It’s also a great option for parents who prefer not to take on volunteer hours. This program will start in June, after the main Racers swim season.
    • Pre-Swim Team:
      We’ll be offering Pre-Swim Team sessions again this year for those who want a little extra practice before the season begins.
