Swim Meet at Home vs. North Hills
Racer Parents,
Congratulations on our first in person swim meet since Summer 2019! We think it went great considering the fact that we were all getting into the swing of being in person as well as adjusting to our new timing system. We have a few items we wanted to communicate in order to ensure that our next three in-person meets run smoothly.
1. Many thanks to those of you who are RSVPing for each meet in the system. It is important to do so to ensure that we are able to capture times and know that the swimmers are available for relays. We would like to ask that you RSVP by no later than midnight Sunday prior to each meet. This will enable the coaches to do lineups and send out the events to parents on Monday so you'll know which events and/or relays that your child is signed up for. We know that emergencies happen but please let Coach Shawn know AS SOON AS POSSIBLE if you RSVPed yes but are no longer able to attend the meet; if we don't know it makes it very difficult to make last minute lineup changes.
2. In order to make sure that the Medley Relays have the appropriate swimmers in place we would like to ask two things of you:
- Please check in with the coaches when you arrive so that they know you are there, particularly if you are in a relay.
- Kid Pushers: If you are a 7-8 , 9-10, or 11-12 kid pusher, please attend warm up and immediately after the kids get out from warm-up, please line them up to make sure that your medley relay swimmers are all present. IF THEY ARE NOT, please see Coach Shawn for changes. Please do not make changes without coach approval as the Pink/Blue event participation forms need to be changed; if they are not the kids will not receive the correct ribbons.
This week, we will be host to the North Hills Wahoos.
Location:
The Greenway Club
Since we are the home team, we need to allow our visiting team to park in our parking lot. We can park along the treeline on the soccer field. Please do not park on the actual soccer field as that space is owned by the HOA and we do not have permission to park on the grass there. The area we can park in will be from the orange cones to the trees. If you live close enough, I would suggest walking to the pool to help alleviate some of the parking congestion. Alternatively, you can park down at the Falls River shopping center and walk to the pool from there. I know that is not convenient, but it is a courtesy that is given to us by the pools that we visit, so we need to pay that forward to our guests as well.
Arrival time: 4:45pm
Warm Up time: 5:00pm
Swim Numbers & T-shirts/caps:
Attached, please find the list of swim numbers. Write the number so that it is visible on the upper portion of each arm. In addition, we would like for you to write your childβs name on the upper part of their back on the right side (first and last name is please.) We ask that you do this prior to arriving at the pool to save time.
If you have not already picked up your t-shirt and/or swim cap, they are bagged by last name and can be picked up at check in - just ask the front gate/snack bar attendant.
Logistics:
Our side of the pool deck is the side closest to the playground. You may want to bring chairs as there will not be enough seats for our entire team and our visiting team. If things get too crowded on our side, we can move some families to the pool deck on the slide pool side, HOWEVER, WE ARE NOT ALLOWED TO GET IN THAT POOL. We cannot even dip our feet in the pool. If your family sits over there, your swimmer must be aware when kid pushers call for their group. We do not have the volunteer manpower to search for swimmers on a crowded pool deck. If they miss their race due to not being aware of where we are in the meet, we will not put them into a later heat.
It pains us to have to say that, but we have a very large team and we are hosting a team and want to have the meet run as smoothly as possible. Awareness of the meet schedule helps to get swimmers in order and up to the blocks in time to swim their assigned races.
Along those lines, 6 & Under swimmers will be swimming 2 events chosen by the coaches. All other age groups will swim in 3 individual events, also chosen by the coaches, and relays if they have been entered into relays.
Food Offerings at Snack Bar:
We will have Chick-fil A sandwiches and nuggets for sale as well as cheese and pepperoni pizza by the slice. (We have ordered much more food for this meet- our apologies for the limited number of food at our first meet). The snack bar is cashless, so credit cards, debit cards and Apple Pay are welcomed.
Volunteers:
Our volunteer coordinator is sending out a separate email about volunteer opportunities still up for grabs. Please sign up for a position if you are able. We cannot put on these meets without our parent volunteers and even if you are new to the swim team, and are intimidated by a job, please allow us to train you. Volunteering is part of being on the team and we desperately need your help!
If you are volunteering for this meet, please check in upon arrival on the covered porch. Our Volunteer Coordinator needs to know that your position is covered. There will be a brief meeting at 5:45pm on the covered porch for timers, place judges, runners and stroke and turn judges.
Thank you again for all you do to get your swimmers to practice and allow them to be a part of the team.
See you all Tuesday night!
Go RACERS!
