Home meet tomorrow 7/17 vs. Bedford Sharks
Racer Families,
We are hosting the Bedford Sharks tomorrow, Tuesday, July 17th. Please
arrive between 4:30-4:45pm and be ready to warm up at 5pm. This
is our final meet of the 2018 summer league swim season!
Also, we are watching Coco after morning
practice in the clubhouse, so bring a lunch or money to purchase snacks. I
would like to ask that if you stay to watch the movie, please try to clean up
as much as you can when the movie ends.
Weather:
The weather forecast is not looking
great for tomorrow. We will monitor what
happens throughout the day and try to send out information via the Remind app
as well as email. We have been quite
lucky this year with the weather, so of course we were due for one night where
the weather looks like it is not going to cooperate. IF we are not able to get the meet in
on Tuesday, we will be preparing to have our meet on Wednesday. We are planting the seed early since it takes a
lot of volunteers to host a meet and we are obligated to provide enough home
meet volunteers. We have had many
families do more than their fare share of volunteer jobs, so we hope we can count
on the continued generosity of volunteer manpower from our team should we need
to postpone our meet until Wednesday.
Having said that, we are going to prepare for Tuesday and cross our fingers.
Parking:
Parking is going to be tight. If you
live in the area and can either walk or carpool, those
options are highly recommended. We let our visiting team park in our parking
lot. We NO LONGER are able to park on
the main part of the soccer field. The Falls River HOA is no
longer allowing us to park there. We will need to park on the street wherever
possible (without obstructing the townhomes on Southwalk). The other option is
to drop off your items and swimmers and park at the Falls River Shopping Center
and walk to the pool.
Concessions:
Please consider purchasing Marcoβs pizza (cheese or pepperoni for $2 a slice)
or Chick-Fil-A sandwiches ($5 each) from our snack bar as part of our swim team
fundraising efforts. Kona Ice will also be in the parking lot.
Set up at the Pool/Seating:
Our team generally sets up on the far side of the pool (closest to the
playground) so that our visitors can set up on the side of the pool near the
bathrooms. Please bring folding chairs, as there are usually not enough seats
to accommodate everyone at the lap lane pool. It is important to remind the younger swimmers that the slide pool and
playground are closed to Racers swim team members. Kid pushers
should not have to go on a search to locate their swimmers.
Volunteers:
If you are assigned to work this meet, please check in upon arrival with our
Volunteer Coordinator, Beth Sciaudone on the covered porch when you arrive. There will be a meeting for timers, place judges,
stroke and turn judges and TSA Reps at 5:40pm on the covered porch.
Free Italian Ice:
Laster Orthodontics, one of our swim team sponsors has offered to pay for
Sunset Slush Italian Ices for members of both swim teams. The carts will be outside of the entrance of
our pool (curbside β where our food trucks usually park.) We ask that swimmers not get their treat
until after our team has finished warm up. Please instruct swimmers to only go to the Sunset Slush cart once. There needs to be enough for both teams and
we want to be gracious when receiving this nice treat from Dr. Laster. If you see him on the deck, please thank him
for his generosity through the years!
Also, I have received many emails with numbers for the banquet. Thank you for sending that in so that I can have a more accurate count when ordering the food. You can continue to bring in the money for the banquet and coachesβ gifts through Wednesday. The most pressing matter was headcount by Tuesday at 12 noon.
See you all tomorrow night! Go RACERS!
Terry
