Away Meet vs. Greystone Gaters tomorrow (7/3)

    Racer Families,

We are swimming the Greystone Gators tomorrow. It will be another hot swim meet, so please make sure to bring lots of water to drink through out the evening. Trees surround the Greystone pool, so if you are susceptible to bugs bites, you might want to bring bug spray as well.

Since this is a holiday week, both teams will have fewer people in attendance than most meets. They tend to move their meets quickly since they have 10 lanes. That being said, they would like to have a Parent-Coach 100 yard relay halfway though the meet. Do I have any brave parent swimmers wanting to try their swimming skills for bragging rights? If so, you get a free swim cap! Email me if you are interested (and bring your suit to the meet.)

    Location:
Greystone Pool is located at 1115 Sawmill Road between Leadmine Road and Creedmoor Roads.

    Parking:
Parking is available for the visiting team in the gravel parking lot in and around the pool. There is also parking available along Sawmill Road, in the parking lot of the Mercy Vineyard Church (across from the pool), and on other side streets.

    Pool Configuration:
Greystone is a 10-lane pool, 25 yards long.Greenway Club will be swimming main heats in the even- numbered lanes. .

    Concessions:
The Gator Grill will be open- serving burgers, hot dogs, baked potatoes along with a bake sale with desserts and fruit cups. In addition, Sunset Slush be on the deck for this week’s meet.

    Volunteers:
As always, we will have a meeting about 15 minutes before meet start for timers, place judges and stroke and turn judges. Since this is a holiday week, any parent that is in attendance that is available to work this meet, please check in with Beth Sciaudone when you arrive.

    After the Meet:
We will go to Goodberry’s at 9700 Strickland Rd., Raleigh, NC 27615 (the one off Strickland near Six Forks…it is closer to Greystone and they stay open later)

Finally, Coach Shawn sent out information about the North Raleigh Championship meet at Ravenscroft that will be held on Sunday, July 15th. This swim meet is set in an indoor pool that allows swimmers to experience a meet in which their times are the sole deciding factor in what place they finish (meaning – there are no place judges.)

Please let Coach Shawn know as soon as possible if your swimmer would like to participate. There is a waiver (see attachment) to sign and meet fees associated with this meet. We had our best showing last year. We would love to be able to have enough swimmers to participate in relays if possible, so consider signing your swimmers up for this meet.

    Go RACERS!
